AgiBot sends 1,000 robots into Chinese universities as new funding round nears close

The humanoid maker is deploying over a thousand robots to 20-plus universities, with a 1–1.5B yuan round near close at a 50B yuan valuation.

AgiBot is sending more than a thousand of its robots into Chinese university labs and classrooms — the largest education deployment the company has disclosed. Under its YuanSheng ecosystem program, the Shanghai humanoid maker will equip 20-plus universities, including Peking, Tsinghua, Zhejiang, Shanghai Jiao Tong and Xi'an Jiaotong, with wheeled, half-size and full-size humanoids from its Genie, Lingxi and Expedition lines alongside Kuatuo quadrupeds, covering the company's full hardware portfolio.

The machines arrive with software attached. AgiBot's AIMA development stack — spanning the LinkSoul agent platform, LinkCraft creation tools and Genie Studio workflow system — gives students a closed loop from simulation and model training to real-machine deployment. The company values the combined hardware and software package at over 200 million yuan, pitching it as an answer to the robot shortage that holds back many university labs.

The campus push is one arm of a five-year, 2-billion-yuan YuanSheng commitment launched in April. AgiBot says the program has since connected 237 research institutions, more than 500 ecosystem partners and over 10,000 application developers, and the company is running a fall recruitment tour to pull more young engineers into the field. AgiBot has declared 2026 the first year of scaled deployment for embodied AI; the bet is that talent pipelines, not just hardware, decide who wins it.

Capital is moving in parallel. AgiBot has opened a new funding round of 1 to 1.5 billion yuan that is nearing its close, at a valuation of about 50 billion yuan — roughly $7 billion. Closed at that level, it would rank among the biggest raises in China's humanoid sector this year, and it would put fresh fuel behind both the university program and the company's commercial rollout.
