StarBot Launches Spark, a 90-Centimeter Humanoid Priced at USD 7,999

The Santa Barbara startup says Spark is made in the United States, for homes, classrooms and developers. The first 100 orders cost USD 5,999.
StarBot Robotics has launched Spark, a 90-centimeter humanoid robot with 22 degrees of freedom, priced from USD 7,999. The Santa Barbara, California company announced the robot on November 4, positioning it as an open-development platform for homes, classrooms and developers.
Spark weighs 35 pounds and runs for up to three hours on a charge, according to the company's product page. It comes in multiple colors and is aimed at child companionship, youth robotics education and developers who want a physical machine to program and experiment with.
Reservations are open with a USD 200 deposit. The first 100 confirmed orders are priced from USD 5,999, with the standard price set at USD 7,999.
StarBot describes Spark as 100 percent manufactured in the United States and as North America's first U.S.-made developer humanoid in its size and price category. Both are the company's own claims, and neither has been independently verified.
Founder and chief executive Yong Wang's stated goal is to build robots that ordinary people can afford. StarBot emerged from the University of California, Santa Barbara's incubation ecosystem.
Spark follows Nova, the company's service robot for restaurants, which launched in early 2026. StarBot says Nova has served more than 20,000 people in commercial settings. Nova's hardware costs USD 4,999 with a USD 499 monthly subscription; Spark is sold outright at USD 7,999.
Spark's pitch is domestic manufacturing and a focus on education: a machine schools and first-time buyers can open up and build on, rather than a finished appliance.
