Agility Robotics picks Nyobolt for Digit 5's fast-charge battery: 90 minutes of work, 9 minutes of charge

The Cambridge battery startup's cells give Digit 5 a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio, targeting 20-plus hours of work a day.
Agility Robotics has selected Cambridge, UK-based Nyobolt as the battery technology partner for its Digit 5 humanoid, the companies announced on October 15. The new battery system delivers 90 minutes of runtime and recharges in 9 minutes - a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio, up sharply from the 2:1 ratio of the previous Digit 4. Agility says the fast-charge pack lets Digit 5 stay productive for more than 20 hours in a 24-hour day, covering more than two full shifts.
The company frames uptime as the central economic argument for humanoid fleets: every minute a robot spends charging is a minute it is not earning. Nyobolt's cells, built around proprietary anode materials, are designed for fast charging, long cycle life, and reduced system weight in industrial conditions. Early access to Digit 5 equipped with the Nyobolt battery is expected to begin in the first half of 2027, with broader availability for warehouse, distribution, and manufacturing operators over the following six to nine months. Those timelines and performance figures are company statements; no independent test data has been published.
The announcement lands as Agility races toward the public markets. Its joint S-4 registration statement with Churchill Capital Corp XI was declared effective by the SEC on October 13, with a shareholder vote set for November 2 and the combination expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026; the combined company would trade on Nasdaq under the ticker AGLT. Agility describes Digit as the first multi-purpose human-centric robot commercially deployed today, citing more than 65,000 hours of combined real-world operation.
