Shenzhen Nanshan wins a national intelligent-robotics demonstration zone
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has named the intelligent-robotics park in Shenzhen’s Nanshan district to the first batch of national emerging-industry demonstration bases — one of only two intelligent-robotics park slots nationwide, alongside Beijing’s E-Town.
The designated zone spans 20.04 square kilometers across Shenzhen Bay, Liuxiandong, the University Town, and Shilong, built around a "one valley, one bay" spatial plan linking labs, factories, and application scenarios.
The designation reflects what’s already on the ground. Shenzhen’s "Robot Valley" in Nanshan has drawn more than 200 robotics supply-chain companies, and the district says 90% of components can be sourced within a half-hour drive — "downstairs is upstream," as the local saying goes.
National demonstration status brings a two-year creation period and, if it passes review, a formal designation — plus a mandate to produce development models other regions can copy. For Nanshan, the test is whether clustering converts into durable manufacturing advantage.
With Beijing E-Town holding the other slot, the rivalry between China’s two robot capitals now has an official scoreboard.
