FFR plans "Built in USA" robotics factory, aims to open before year-end

The Robot Daily·2026-10-01·1 min read

Faraday Future’s robotics arm FFR used IROS 2026 in Pittsburgh to unveil plans for a "Built in USA" robotics factory it aims to bring online before the end of the year — its first major manufacturing commitment since the robotics business started trading on Nasdaq.

The announcement lands days after FFR began trading under the ticker FFR, with the robotics business valued at roughly $200M in the proposed transaction. The pitch is American-built humanoids for an American supply chain, at a moment when Washington openly frames robot manufacturing as strategic infrastructure.

The operating numbers so far are small. Through August, the robotics business reported 552 units shipped and about $1.52M in cumulative revenue. A factory timeline that holds would be the first evidence this is a manufacturing story rather than a stock story.

The filings behind the listing flag real risks: all robot products depend on Chinese contract manufacturers, and the documents warn of a possible US federal ban on imports of Chinese robotics products — a tension at the heart of any "Built in USA" claim.

Whether FFR can staff, tool, and ramp a US humanoid factory in under six months is now the test. The next two quarters will tell.
