Anthropic targets pre-Thanksgiving IPO, roadshow as early as Nov 9
Anthropic is aiming for a stock market debut before Thanksgiving, with formal IPO marketing — the roadshow — potentially starting as early as the week of November 9, Bloomberg reported on October 1, citing people familiar with the matter.
The timeline has shifted repeatedly: an autumn listing was first expected in late September, then pushed toward mid-October, with one scenario weighing a delay past the November 3 midterm elections. The pre-Thanksgiving window is treated as a practical cutoff because trading thins sharply around the holiday; internally, the company wants the listing done by year-end at the latest.
The scale would reset Wall Street records. Prospective investors put Anthropic's fair value between $1.8 trillion and $2 trillion, with the raise potentially reaching $100 billion — matching or exceeding SpaceX's June IPO. In May, Anthropic closed a $65 billion round at a $965 billion post-money valuation; its worth could double again within half a year.
Preparations are already visible: Anthropic has invited select institutional investors to an October 14 event at its San Francisco headquarters. Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Citi anchor the underwriting slate, with Nasdaq the expected venue.
The listing would be a major test of investor appetite for AI stocks — and a sharp contrast with OpenAI, whose CEO Sam Altman shelved its own 2026 IPO plans as "ill-advised."
