Agility standardizes Digit 5 on NVIDIA IGX Thor, making NVIDIA its exclusive compute supplier

The expanded collaboration folds NVIDIA Halos safety tooling into Digit's human-detection system, with early access set for the first half of 2027.

Agility Robotics announced on October 22 that its Digit 5 humanoid will standardize onboard compute on NVIDIA IGX Thor modules, making NVIDIA the exclusive provider of onboard compute for the general-availability version of the robot. The move deepens the two companies' collaboration as Agility prepares Digit 5 for broader commercial deployment in factories and warehouses.

The compute transition is paired with safety work. Agility is integrating IGX Thor and additional NVIDIA Halos models into its proprietary safe human detection system for Digit, aiming to expand perception, connect to a broader ecosystem, and support certification and deployment. The company will also take part in the NVIDIA Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab, where Digit's safety-related software, AI components and cybersecurity protections will be evaluated ahead of final third-party certification. Agility was the first company to announce it would incorporate elements of NVIDIA Halos into its proprietary safety system.

“Bringing humanoid robots to commercial scale requires AI computing and safety to be engineered together,” said Deepu Talla, NVIDIA's vice president of robotics and edge AI. Agility CTO Pras Velagapudi said unifying on Thor modules gives the company a common foundation as it advances Digit's capabilities and prepares for broad deployment.

The commercial timeline: early access to Digit 5 is expected in the first half of 2027, with availability increasing over the following six to nine months for manufacturing, warehouse and distribution operators. Agility says multi-year Digit 5 orders exceed $300 million, contingent on contractual milestones, and it announced four new customers across automotive, consumer goods and agriculture. Farm machinery maker AGCO will begin testing Digit in 2027 at its Hesston, Kansas factory, on parts sorting, stacking and tote positioning; Agility also opened a 50,000-square-foot Pittsburgh site for software and AI development, deployment teams and an East Coast service center.

The announcement builds on Agility's safety push around Digit 5 — including its October 1 partnership with FORT Robotics on a safety architecture for the new generation — and on more than 65,000 hours of real-world operation logged by earlier Digits with customers such as GXO, Schaeffler and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada. Separately, Agility is preparing to go public via its previously announced business combination with Churchill Capital Corp XI, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, after which the combined company is expected to trade on Nasdaq under the ticker AGLT.
